Himalayas Cycling Holiday
Our India Himalaya cycling holiday is one of our most difficult mountain bike tours in the world. This extreme cycling tour takes you to the very heart of the Himalayas where you will discover some of the finest cycling the world has to offer.
We start cycling in Manali, after being transferd from Delhi. Manali situated at 1,950m (6,398 ft) is an interesting hill station in the mountains of Himachal Pradesh. After a couple of days acclimatising, the cycling starts as we set out to cover the 476km (296 miles) over 8 days to Leh in Ladakh. Nestled high in the Himalayas and accessible for only 4 months a year Ladakh which means the "land of passes" has been described as “Little Tibet” and the last ‘Shangri-La’. It’s situated on the banks of the Indus between the two highest mountain ranges in the world, the Karakoram to the north and mighty Himalayas to the south. It’s the highest, most remote and least populated region in India. We will cycle five major passes, 2 of which are over 5000m (16,400ft) on the road to its capital Leh.

From here nestled high in the Himalayas and accessible for only 4 months of the year, we will have the ultimate cycling challenge, cycling from 3, 600m (11,500 feet) in Leh to the Khardung-La Pass, one of the highest motorable road in the world, taking you to a breathtaking height of 5359m (17,583 feet) in just 39km 24 miles).

This Himalayan cycle tours involves cycling along roads dotted with lonely nomad camps, Tibetan refugees tending their yaks and crafting cheese by hand. Climbing switchback after switchback for hours on end into the thin air at 5,000 metres. This classic tour will offer mountain biking challenges and great rewards.
